Wow, we did 14 figure drawings this week! Of course, most of them were 4 minute gestures, but still. A few turned out fairly nice. The model was also very talkative and friendly, which was an interesting change, though she said that's what made her a bad model as they weren't supposed to talk. That was interesting. We started by doing several gesture drawings using the side of the conte crayon to capture the form before we added detail. Then we did some general outline/shading kind of drawings. All are below:

SCAD Figure Drawing - Week 3
Week 3 and I think it's finally coming back to me. We actually did seven (7!) drawings today, all using the same method of arching-in the form with relation to the edges of the paper, then defining shape with the side of a conte crayon, and finally drawing in lines with the tip of the conte. I started to get the hang of it somewhere in the middle. I think it was a fairly successful day:

SCAD Figure Drawing - Week 2
Another fun-filled three hours of figure drawing down at SCAD-Atlanta. I think I almost know where it is now. No blind contours this week (thankfully), just some boxing in with angles, "X"ing, and a more classical approach. This week's model was named Mike, which was very comical to me for inter-office reasons. In any case, please enjoy this week's figure drawings:

SCAD Figure Drawing - Week 1
Well, December was a truly craptacular month, but now that it's over, it's a new year! Starting 2009 off right, I've started taking a SCAD Community Education class: Figure Drawing! Very, very exciting stuff. Today was the first class, so we didn't get to do too much drawing or anything too usable for a portfolio. We mostly did blind contours. Here are the things I drew today:
