For the fifth week of classes, and my final week as I will be out of town for the next/last three, we started off with seven two-minute gestures. We then did two 45-minute poses starting off with boxes and cylinders to nail the perspective, then outlining and shading the figure. I was told by the instructor, Ben Smith, that the last drawing was "my best to date." A truly ironic comment for him to make, since it will be the last drawing I do in his class. Bittersweet...

SCAD Figure Drawing - Round 2 - Week 4
This week started off, as always, with some gesture drawings. We then did 15 minute poses where we'd start with a kind of armature (three blocks for the torso and triangular "arrows" for the arms and legs) drawn with pencil and go over it with conte crayon. One of my better weeks during this second round of figure drawing classes, but I still don't feel I've been doing my best work.

SCAD Figure Drawing - Round 2 - Week 3

SCAD Figure Drawing - Round 2 - Week 2
